2014 Year in Review (cont'd)

Jake Ruggles who finished second in points dogged O'Connell on the track most of the season. He couldn't quite pull off a win but he did get his first Pole at Dillon Speedway in the fall race. Logan Jones was dedicated to racing this year, showing up at every race driving to Carolina tracks from Fredricksburg, Virginia. It paid off for him and gave him a third place points finish. Robbie Allison came into the series in May at Orange County Speedway driving the #12 Legacy car, his grandfather's famous #12 car Coke car number. He ran ten races at seven different tracks giving him seat time and a great learning experience on different types of race tracks. Those are your top five drivers this year. The photo finish at Orange County on July 26th must be mentioned as it may be the closest finish in Legacy racing history. On the last lap O'Connell and Moody came across the finish line together and O'Connell was named the winner but the transponder recording showed Moody as the winner only 1/1000 of a second ahead of O'Connell. Back in the day it would have been called a photo finish. It was Daniel Bedford's second year in the series and he got a couple of third place finishes running competively in seven races. Jantzen Stirewalt is always a force to deal with when he shows up at the track. He is always at the front of the pack and snagged a couple of second place finishes this year. Colby White is new to the series this year. She is determined and courageous. She is sure to be competitive in 2015. She has Hickory, Orange County and Florence Speedways under her belt now so is ready to move on. Past Champions Justin LaDuke and Justin Allison showed up at Wake County Speedway and put on a show. They tangled in turns 3 and 4 in heavy traffic and neither one was a winner. They both are racers and both ran a couple of more races at the end of the season. J.Allison and O'Connell put on a show for the fans at Orange County in October swapping back and forth to lead the race. After a spectacular and wild spin by Allison at the checkers, O'Connell was the race winner. Bobby Trumbauer who is usually turning wrenches at the track drove LaDuke's car at Southern National Raceway Park and had a very impressive second place finish. Other drivers racing this year were Ian Isringhausen, Tyler Farris, Andrew Davis, Jason Whatley, Domemic Bedford and Justin Taylor.
